  1. Q) How do I winterize my scooter/moped?

  2. A) Fuel stabilizer, like SeaFoam, should be added to the fuel tank.  Then take a short ride to distribute the treated fuel into the carburetor.  The battery should be removed and stored on a warm location (basement) on a 1/2 amp trickle charger.  That’s it.

  1. Q) How long will my scooter registration last?

  2. A) Moped registrations expire every even year April (April 08, 10, etc).  When you buy a new scooter you only have to pay for the remaining months until the next renewal April.

  1. Q) At what interval should the transmission (gear) oil be changed in my scooter?

  2. A) The first change should be performed at 300-400 miles.  After that, every 1000 miles or per manufacturers recommendations.

  1. Q) My 2 Stroke scooter sounds different and does not run as well as normal.  What might be wrong with it?

  2. A) The spark plug is likely fouled and should be replaced.

  1. Q) Do I have to use oil purchased from MJ’s to maintain my warranty?

A)  Yes - we used to say no.  But we found customers having reliability issues due to using “cheap” oil.  We have negotiated with our oil vendors to provide quality SCOOTER oil below our competition so buying oil at MJ’s helps you maintain your warranty and saves you money.
